Crackhead Chic

I recently overheard a conversation in which several nerdy baseball guys discussed their appreciation for the late-90’s Tampa Bay Devil Rays baseball cap in which the “TB” was written in an array of flashy neon colors. It is a terrible-looking hat that serves as an unfortunate reminder that this is the organization that traded a 23-year-old Bobby Abreu for Kevin “.343 Career Slugging Pct.” Stocker.

Any way, it’s the kind of item that only the lamest of hard-core baseball fans would pine after. Not long after overhearing this conversation, I was walking through Brooklyn’s tragic Bed-Stuy neighborhood, where I saw not one, but two crackheads sporting the desired Devil Rays caps, which were probably arbitrarily given to them after being donated to charity because nobody wanted them (the hats I mean, but probably no wanted the crackheads either). Or maybe smoking crack enhances fashion sense.
