50 Cent: Auteur

If you’re not excited for the upcoming film, Gun, then you obviously haven’t heard anything about it. What can be ascertained from the film’s poster:

1.) The film’s tagline is “One gun, many lives lost” despite the fact that the poster depicts 50 holding two guns.

2.) The film was written by 50 himself.

3.) The film co-stars 50 and Val Kilmer, however, Kilmer is featured nowhere on the poster. This makes sense, as Kilmer’s career filmography has grossed nearly a billion dollars, compared to the $15 or so 50 Cent took in with 2005′s Get Rich or Die Tryin’.

4.) This should be a very good movie.

More recently, no less exalted an artist than Axl Rose got into it with bastardized cola product Dr. Pepper over the company’s promise to give away free cans of soda if Rose ever actually released his belabored magnum opus, Chinese Democracy.

PS: I have no idea if Wikipedia’s list of Dr. Pepper advertising slogans is completely accurate, but it it hilarious either way. The highlights:

* 2002: “Solves All Your Problems.” (Europe)
* 2007: “El Dr Muy Bueno” (Latin America)
* 2008: “What’s the worst that could happen?” (Europe)
